Lip enhancement

Overview
Lips are a major feature of the face. Their beauty and sensuality is well documented. As we age, certain substances in the lips such as collagen diminishes resulting in loss of volume, loss of border, drooping of the corners of the mouth giving a sad look and wrinkles around the mouth. Lip enhancement uses dermal fillers to replace lost volume and restore lips. It is also used to increase volume in younger clients wanting more fuller lips
Is it painful?
The lips are sensitive therefore we always use a local anaesthetic cream for at least 20 minutes prior to the procedure.
Procedure
Before the procedue your face will be cleansed and any makeup will be removed. The anaesthetic cream will be applied for 20 mins. The filler will then be injected carefully int various parts of the lips using a very fine needle. The procedure lasts approximatly 10 to 15 minutes.
When will I see the results?
Results are instant however due to swelling in the lips it is best to wait for at least 1 week before final results are seen. Your lips will always be bigger when you have just had the treatment due to swelling and will gradually subside over the next few days.
How long does it last for?
HA fillers in the lips will usually last between 6 months to 1 year.
What side effects should I expect?
Swelling will always happen as the lips are very sensitive. Swelling will subside within 2-3 days. Bruising may occur. Sometimes small nodules and lumps are felt after treatment - these can be treated by gentle massaging over the next few days.
Aftercare
In order to reduce swelling it is advisable to use icepacks on the lips. Avoid using lipstick or makeup for 24 hours. Try and keep the area clean and avoid touching too much
